Welcome to GOJU-KAI KARATE MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY

CONFIDENCE ~ DISCIPLINE ~ FITNESS ~ FLEXIBILITY

TRADITIONAL AND SPORT KARATE

Karate is an art which cultivates courage and developes physical and mental health through its practise. In addition, Karate training enables the individual the basics of self-defence.  We want you to have fun and make new friends.  Karate has many benefits to the practitioner including general fitness, flexibility, strength and over-all conditioning.

When you enter the DOJO [training place] for the first time, you encounter a regime of etiquette and a code of ethics [respect and responsibility], which helps discipline oneself. There is no specific age for the "beginner" - Goju-kai has students as young as five years of age through to sixty five years of age and on... A structured grading system allows you to progress at your own pace.

Steve was fortunate to be graded to 1st and 2nd Dan in Australia, and later 4th Dan in Japan by the legendary founder of Goju-Kai Karate in Japan, the late Gogen Yamaguchi Hanshi.
